Book Club

Love to Read? Me too. I’m an introverted extrovert, so I am one of those classifiable nerds who honestly doesn’t feel lonely if I have a book to read. Despite my sincere belief that a minimalistic life is the best life, I am well on my way to having a mini-library in my home. It’s the bane of every military mover’s existence every few years. I am excited for the day I can own a rolling ladder.

While I love to read, I have come to realize that I really don’t love to write about reading, so I am not going to put either of us through that. I am simply going to include this constantly updating list here for you to reference, incase you need some of my personal favorite words to cozy up to. Happy reading.

Top Favorites

The Tattooist of Auschwitz & Cilka’s Journey, Heather Morris

The Giver, Lois Lowry

The Shoemaker’s Wife, Adriana Trigiani

Fiction

The Giver, Lois Lowry

Red, White, and Royal Blue, Casey McQuiston

*This book is a top diversity inclusive narrative recommendation and is VERY funny.

The Shoemaker’s Wife, Adriana Trigiani

Cilka’s Journey, Heather Morris

The Harry Potter Series, J.K. Rowling

The Lord of the Rings Series, J.R.R. Tolken

Nonfiction

The Color of Water, James McBride

The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Rebecca Skloot

The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Heather Morris

*This book should be followed by Cilka’s Journey, a historically accurate fiction based on a real person. Cilka’s Journey is considered a fiction because parts of the story and some of the characters are created in order to give shape to the story. Cilka Klein was a real person who survived both Auschwitz and the Soviet Gulag System, and in order to fill in parts of her story, historical accounts were used to create the reality she faced for more than a decade. Cilka’s Journey is also written by Heather Morris and is one of my top recommendations.
